  • Tree Plantation

A programme of tree plantation have been occurred at the adopted village of this college, "Somalia" at Kirtipur. All the teaching along with the non teaching staffs have attended the programme. Various medical plants and trees have been planted by all the teaching staffs guided by the principal. Nearly 250 students hove attended this auspicious cause.

  • Helping Animal A-1(NGO)

 

Financial assistance is provided to Animal A-1(NGO) each month for nursing the Disable Street Dogs, Cows, Goats etc at Madanpur beside our 2nd campus at Kirtipur, North 24 Parganas.

  • National Service Scheme (NSS)
  • Meaning of NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at 10+2 level working for a campus-community linkage.

  • Aims of NSS

The programme aims to inculcate social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. In doing so, volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. It also provides help in natural and man-made disasters by providing food, clothing and first aid to the disaster victims.

  • NSS in our college

Inspired by the dynamic leadership of the Principal of the college and active work by the Programme Officer and NSS volunteer of our college, two kinds of activities were organized at our college [which adopted village Simulia] i.e Regular activity and Special activity. Some Regular activities are Environment related – Conservation of Natural Resources, Preservation of Old Monuments, Historical and Cultural Heritage, Health related – Personal Hygiene, Public Sanitation, Awareness in the Legal Education, small project like Socio-Economic Surveys, Disaster Management Club, Red Ribon Club, Action Groups, Food Club. Our NSS Unit arranged some events viz. tree plantation, blood donation camp, health check-up camp, meditation camp, distribution of exercise book, pencil, eraser, sharpener etc among the poor students of the Simulia pre-primary school, hand wash programme, health checkup camp, road safety awareness programme etc.

  • Social Awareness Programme
  • Handwash Programme

Nearly 150 students have attended this programme to be made aware of daily life and cleanliness. Hands are our most precious part of body which comes in contact with various bearers of illness. Thus our hands must be kept clean with handwash and with that only we can avoid and prevent various diseases. The principal has given a very important speech on the importance of Handwash. The NSS volunteers as well as the students' union has helped to make this programme a grand success.

  • Thalassemia awareness programme

The college organized a thalassemia awareness programme by the doctors and officials of the Tropical Medicine, Kolkata.

  • Blood Donation Camp

It is said that a drop of blood can save a life. To understand this NSS committee with the help of the Central Blood Bank organized a camp. The students and the teachers actively took part of and donated life saving blood to make this programme a grand success.

  • Health Check-up Camp

With the help of the Health department of Madhyamgram Municipality, a health camp is organized in the college. The inhabitants of Saradapally are helped in this manner with free check-ups.

  • Cultural Activities

The College authority in association with its students union, organize cultural activities regularly.  Celebrated performers in different cultural fields are invited.  At the same time, the College students also perform in these cultural programmes.

Cultural activities like annual social function, special music programmes on the Birth Anniversary of Tagore, song competition, debates, quiz contest etc are held so that the mission of the college and academic activities are well integrated.

With the special help of the Health Department of Madhyamgram Municipality, the NSS deportment of this college has organized a health check-up camp at the adopted village, "Simulia". 100 students and also the NSS volunteers have been seen active On this day to organize this programme fruitfully. The principol, Dr.Chandan Kumar Chakraborty, has stated his views and missions of developing this village through various other prograrnmes in future. The poor people of this village are helped by this project of free heath check up.

  • Games & Sports

Our college organizes Annual sports and inter class tournaments (Football, Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, Chess, Carom etc) followed by a colourful prize distribution ceremony. Some students participate in Basket ball competition at National level. The college organizes its Annual Sports meet in the third week of January. The local children are taken into a sports competition organized by the college

There is a Student Union cum common room comprising huge sports materials including cricket materials, football materials, chess materials, carrom boards, badminton materials, ludo etc.  There are similar facilities in the girls? common room as well.

In our college there is ample scope of sports and games with a ladies’ gymnasium as well as “Yoga Centre”. Our future plan is to improve the infrastructure for Games & Sports further.
